SJQ Portfolio website - August 2012 (In development)
Please see attached my new portfolio website. I wanted to refresh my look (with my new branding completed this week), plus I was getting a little tired of behance prosite layouts, so wanted to try something new.
I wanted to go for a clean and minimal look. I have used mono images as my range of work varies and when shown in colour they just clash, so they needed taming.
I have then sub brands the disciplines of my projects with my new secondary colour palette, purple, aqua, gold and salmon.
I look forward to your thoughts. (Bigger shot attached). I still need to work on content, but slowly getting there.
Its not magic, however I would like to stress my main strength is graphic design, so with the help of CMS, I aim to make my online presence as strong as possible.
Looks really great. Good stuff. I love the subtle contrast between the white header and grey body. I might add a little bit of space above and below the headline text.
I have developed a colour palette and icon set to compliment/illustrate/reference my skills I can offer through SJQ.
I wanted to develop on from my new identity using the triangle as my main focal point for each icon. The biggest challenge was the illustration/information architecture icon, as I wanted to bring together both skills in one icon. (so stats/chart with an illustration style (mountain in this example).
So in order from left to right:
Web Design & Interactive Development
Illustration & Information Architecture
Branding & Identity
Advertising & Campaigns
Photography
I have been flat out with freelance work lately, but have finally got round to doing a few more tweaks to the SJQ portfolio site.
Only small tweaks, but I feel they help the overall design. I have added social media icons under the intro, I wanted this to be an easy navigation to the other platforms
I have also lost the colour references (triangles) in the corners, it was getting alittle too over the top for the clean mono look.

Thanks for the feedback, I shall tweak.
It's already plugged into the CMS (Squarespace 6) so I am tweaking it in the offline mode.
