White border could be super nice for dark backgrounds, have you checked it out on lighter backgrounds?
I guess assuming people often use folders and folders have dark backgrounds, this would pop great. I don't know what it's for so I can't tell you how the concept is working, but I do enjoy the border and the subtle inner shadow.
@Kerem Suer ya, its on my phone now :) I am going to make the icon in the middle white.. cuz in the real world testing i'm doing.. the contrast just isn't there.
The OS adds a dark stroke/shadow around the icon on the home screen and elsewhere.. so a white border hasn't been an issue.
That's a lens, right? I love the stylistic approach—there are a million and one app icons that have a photorealistic lens as the focal point (har har har).

Finished the app icon for something new!
It goes along with this shot: http://dribbble.com/shots/654322-2006

Fix those inside corners! Other than that, nice work.

Decent icon. I like its unobtrusiveness.
