Here's an idea I was toying with - for the first book, I did it all in AI, with flat color backgrounds. I was wondering how it would look if I kept the drawing style the same, but layered it over old paper for a treasure map kind of feel (see the attachment for the rough edges). Any thoughts/preferences between this and solid color?

Sam - I personally like the texture - I think it adds to the overall picture, but doesn't take away from your wonderful illustrations - just my opinion!
@Virginia Poltrack - thanks so much! That's what I was aiming for, so I'm glad it came across that way!
I like the texture too. The minions should get sick out of this!
Great hat sliding about the little one on the left. Nice true gesture.
I think the old paper texture looks great! The color of it really sets off the colors in your cute illustrations too.
I'm really liking the textures, too, Sam! Definitely a direction worth exploring and developing some more! :-)
Sam I LOVE these!!!! Such great expression! I like both with texture & without. Can't go wrong with sketches like these :)
