Working on an icon for a client's iOS app. The app is a coupon clipper app. So far I've built the 512px and 114px versions.

Love this icon. You going to leave the sides empty?
@Liam - Thanks man!
@Jeff - Thanks!! Yeah, hoping it'll work out that way and look fine on the device(s).
Looks great--just an FYI Apple won't let transparency happen in an icon, it will fill with black.
Very cool! Cut out sides would be sweet...
Not possible unfortunately!
It looks nice but I think the blank spaces will get filled with black once on the device. :/
I really wish they'd allow transparencies... this is a beautiful icon though, even if it breaks the rules :)
great concept but after reading the comments by Fabio and others, I suggest using a square box rather than the one with curvy edges i.e. only if that transparency gets filled with black as Fabio says. Square box will give no empty space in the sides so will be a pretty good alt unless you have something top notch in mind =P
would be awesome if transparencies was supported
Thanks for the awesome comments and feedback everyone!
The client signed off on the rounded box with empty space, so I'm assuming they're cool with it as it is. Though if it comes down to changing it to eliminate the transparent spaces then I'll probably go with a squared off box.
Awesome - great use of the shape normally used for iOS icons.

Thoughts on this as an alternative to solving the transparent spaces on the last icon?
