   both are nice, but imho both feature a tiny problem... although the main cog is clearly visible in both, the other two are left too isolated and cropped too tightly, leaving them as un-defined bits "sortof" connected to the big cog wheel. Have you tried perhaps reducing the radius of the main wheel by 5 px and lifting the other two slightly? (I think they become far better visible once a bit more of their center hole is within the crop-area)

   That being said, I like the one on the right for its simplicity and although somewhat muted shadows... the contrast and shading is striking :)
