Trying my hand at iOS icon design. Boggles my mind having to work at such a huge size only to have the details reduced for the actual display piece.

Your metal is over the top cartoony. Your perspectives are off (the dA logo doesn't share the same vanishing point as the other elements). The leather texture on the top isn't being warped as it stretches over that edge; it looks like a flat texture applied to the whole thing.
@Ryan Ford Thanks for the critiques. I completely agree about the texture perspective along the top and the logo. Can't believe I didn't see that earlier. I was a bit worried about the metal shrinking down to actual size on the iPhone/iPad screen. I agree at this size it looks rather cartoonish but and the actual size it looses a lot of that. That said, perhaps I could adjust it some to look more realistic.

Here's an update on the icon with some of the suggestions from Ryan. I shrunk the leather pattern a bit as it was a little too chunky on the retina screen.
