Scratched the first approach and decided to go with something a bit more iconic.
Going for "out of the box" where box = circle. Thinking the mark may say too much "ocean city" and not enough "church". Also thinking that may not be a bad thing.
This seems much more refined and thought out than the last..I agree that it may not be a bad thing that it doesn't say "church". It says "fun" imo, people don't always look at church as being a fun place maybe the mark will bring a stronger interest.
That's really lovely Jesse. If you really look at it and squint your eyes the waves could almost look like fingers of a hand. Something consider maybe, or maybe I'm just off my meds again.
I like the mark, I think maybe the "ocean city" type could use a bit better style or something more unique. Maybe a different weight or all caps. To me it really blends in with the baptist church part. And I think they should contrast more. Nice work!
I think that it's good that it says more Ocean City in a unique and effective way rather than Church. Getting "churchy" is often a turn off for people who aren't already apart of a church.
@Mac: Agreed. The pastor requested lower case to help communicate the new, informal feel the church was going for; however, now with a more playful mark I might be able to get away with all-caps.
@Rogie: Yeah, I just did inset on this Dribbble treatment because it was set against wood. It'll probably appear in a much less treated way on signage, business cards, etc. Hopefully the only inset we need is a nice letterpress. ;)
@Matt: Probably not, though I'm going to give them several different versions (b+w, 2-color, etc) which will hopefully help make it easy for themto get the printed materials right.
@Maria: It was intentional, so I'm glad it came across!
good branding is good branding. Im curious to see a BW version. Have you thought about making the inside curve more of a true circle. Maybe It is and my eyes are playing tricks on me.
Much Better BTW.
@Sam: I actually began freehand but felt like there were too many subtle "lumps", so I actually used circles as guides. I think this may be one of those cases where symmetry looks funny. If I get a chance, I'll post the "wireframe" view.

I don't think you really need the inset look on the text, but that being said, this is gorgeous Jesse! I really love it.

I agree with Rogie. The inset doesn't feel right but the logo mark and the colours are fantastic.

Well done man. Really like the way it turned out! You working on the collateral as well? Can we expect previews? :)

I like the greater emphasis on "ocean city" rather than "baptist church" - you're there for the city! :)
Intentional or not, I like the "O" and "C" visual cue I'm getting from the mark. Well done, overall!

This is visually great, i love it! I'm not sure if it makes "church" enough, but that's probably intended.
