I have a tip Jarno. Don't start with the 512px icon (or 1024px) and then scale down. Start with the 114px (or 144px if it's for the iPad) and get it looking pixel perfect on the device first. Then design the others to scale. Reason being is that the device icons are what people are going to see day in and day out when they install your app.
Yes the high res icons market really well on Dribbble but their profile is severally limited. The device icon should never be an afterthought. Because at the end of day, that's all that matters.
Give Xscope a try. It mirrors your Macs display on your iDevice and is the best I've used in the field.
@William Szilveszter thanks for really taking time and giving feedback :) Yeah xScope is brilliant, I use it almost daily. I find it more reliable than Skala preview, which for some reason freezes a lot and doesn't send graphics to the device. I've done some testing with this icon and already noticed it doesn't scale down that nicely so 114px might just be the best starting point like you said, thanks!
@Dash thanks man, we are soon releasing new drawing app for iPad, been working on the UI for quite some time already and of course it needs an iCon too :)
You are very welcome Jarno. I love all your stuff. You are super talented. Would hate to see that go to waste over mere semantics :) And yes, I tried them all (used to use LiveView) and also found Xscope to be tops; way ahead of the bunch.

@Julia Khusainova It's so much work in progress I'm not even sure if the brush is the right way to go, could be the final icon will be something totally different!
@AndyTheJoker Yes, that's exactly what I was thinking, it's like a cleaning mob or something :)
