Working on a search dropdown with grouped results. Can't decide on a dark or light background. Both have their pros/cons. Hm...

I think the black background is way nicer.

Hmm it's hard to decide between the 2 with only a dribbble size preview.

As it looks like the content is on a white background, the search results should probably be darker in order to stand out and draw attention.

Put me down for another vote for the darker style.

I dig the dark, but I prefer the light version. Either way, both look nice.

Yeah but did I click the like button when the image was dark or light?

You're all making this much more difficult. I was leaning towards white for scannability/readability. *bangs head against table*

Reason I prefer the light? Better contrast between it and the darker top of the page container behind it. That, and when you hover over an item on the white background, not only does the link's background color change to blue, the actual text changes color too. All pluses IMO.

I prefer the darker. PS - As an Rdio subscriber, I'd love to see this!

I like the darker version but possibly make it transparent a bit more may add a nice effect.

I like the white one. Seems more "modal"

I'm torn, these both look great. I like the look of the dark a little better but wonder if it's as readable with lots of results (would have to see on a bigger screen). Great use of an animated gif btw!

Love the dark as a designer, but light seems more user friendly and accepted by a general audience. I go through these same debates nearly every time I design.
