The Rype Arts site update is finally live! Even though it's up, I still need to do some fiddling around and testing. I know there are some compatibility issues, but I think it's at a point where it can be live.
With the updates I really was trying to work on a couple of things.
On the design side I wanted to simplify and strip out all the unneeded visual design, copy, and random stuff. I feel I tend to just dress something up even if it's not a successful design. With these constraints I had to focus on composition and layout.
Not to hop on the bandwagon but another area I wanted to work on was responsive layouts and graphics that are not dependent on resolution. I used Boostrap for the site responsiveness and experimented a bunch with SVG. Most of the portfolio images aren't SVG and instead are served double size, which might be a problem on mobile devices so I'm still working on that.
This really is just the first step in the site update. I'm updating the blog right now with some other changes I've been working on.
It's very pretty and clean. I would love to see a button like 'Next project' while I'm checking a project. Makes sense? Otherwise I have to go back to the homepage all the time if I want to see another project.

There is no word in English or German to describe what we see here, but in Spanish they call it "Impressivo."

Love how the illustrations and very simple color palette are doing all the heavy lifting. A classic example of less is more in design.
Killer work!
