@Bart Boudewijns Very good point! The icon is meant to rotate when the user clicks on it. But now I'm thinking it might be confusing on a usability perspective.
Nice work Ricardo—I'd think that it might add a bit of visual interest and improve legibility if the dropdown selector row was a different colour than the dropdown itself. Also, how do you foresee the border working? Would it resize with an expansion animation when the dropdown is selected?

I only use X to close things that will disapear like modals or popups...
