@Cameron, sorry to hear about your son; it's awful that health insurance is such a barrier, when it should be a helpful service that cares for people in need. I thought the new health care measures protected infants against the pre-existing non-sense? I know it will for adults in 2014.
@Dustin, hopefully this will all be a thing of the past soon.
It's hard to imagine a person denying someone in need, but a corporation has no problem with it. These companies are only concerned with corporate-scale wealth, not human health.

Sketch for an art piece about being denied health care coverage due to a pre-existing condition.
Having arms is a pre-existing condition, yet the insurance bureaucrats don't deny coverage for your ams. Well, so is being alive.

Having a son with diabetes (and having to switch insurance in just 6 months), boy does this hit home.

It's even worse being denied coverage for a condition you no longer have like me! This hits home here as well.

Rebound
Pre-existing condition

Refining the head shape to be less wide. Possibly "existing" is too far to the right — what do you fine folks think?
