• Right level of detail
• Recognizable concept
• Unique silhouette
• Matches style of others in the set
So it is pretty good to start out with. It fits with the set both visually and conceptually, and is a decent icon by itself.
Critique:
• The first thing that comes to mind is color vibrance. Whether or not real speakers have a dull coloring, you should be using bright, saturated colors, like you did with the rest of the set. This is part of the reason it feels sort of dull–the rest of the set is so vibrant. Most icons should be very vibrant, if you can.
• The other important thing is depth. Right now everything in this icon says "flat" and there is no depth hierarchy. A depth hierarchy in an icon like this is controlled by inner shadows and outer shadows–if it has a white inner shadow, it's probably outset, if it has a white outer shadow, it's probably inset. So, if we look at this icon, that hierarchy is difficult to see. the top of the black part looks inset, the bottom outset. The bubble in the middle's border would have you think it was concave, a depression, but the shading says it is popping out. All sort of confusing to the viewer, and it averages out to flatness and lack of realism.
In your other icons in this set, you have done a lot of work to get the depth "right". Look at your Xcode icon, for example... you have soft shadows, some reflections, and a bunch of other cues. On this icon, though, you don't have that as strongly, and you get the "stacked paper sheets" issue I see so often in icons these days: it looks like you have a bunch of pieces of colored cardboard and you stacked them on top of each other. An icon should look like it is popping out of the screen, like your dartboard icon does.
• Texture... don't add it. Really, you don't need it. Most of the other icons in the set use texture very sparingly to convey materials, and in this case the "shiny metal" can be conveyed through shading alone.
Here are my edits, you can see what this critique looks like in practice... I did my best to keep the style consistent with the rest of the icons, though. Love the set and look forward to seeing more of it ^_^
@Ollin you're the best LOL. Thanks for having your edit at the end, I understood most of what you said but that made it all easier. You're right about making it more vibrant, I made this last night at 4am on my macbook (which has a shitty screen LOL) and I figured I'd edit the colours when I got on my macbook. I'll make the depth changes and post an update :3
Add some noise to the cone. It also needs layers (see here). I don't think it needs more than that. To be honest, you could probably escape with just some noise. :)

The gold section, would it not have circles within it from the small black bit to the large black bit?

@Alan Horne well I don't know, I looked at some speakers in our house that look exactly like this and the gold bit is smooth.

Try adding a little more texture on the brown part.

@Prekesh Chavda I think it's the shadows and highlights on the golden area. Maybe try muting them more and making the shadow area at the top wider.

Hot damn!
maybe a nice kevlar texture on the yellow bit would look nice?

Nice start! I think it'd look better with a more contrasted metal reflection for the border and some radial metal texture on the gold part.
