@John Kane Smith lit a fire under my arse with his wonderful rendition of the Philadelphia ambigram, and I wanted to try my own version; not just with with a different typographic aesthetic, but using different lettering combinations as well.
Sketches.jpg - roughs and quick sketches.
Rough1.jpg - a larger version of the shot (my favorite version so far)
Rough2.jpg - a version I drew out giving the letters some weight...and a version which I really don't like. Guess that's what I get for only spending a few minutes on it after I was overly happy that Rough1.jpg was starting to work.
Diggin' your D/E solution... Don't wanna loose the feeling of the A/EL I have going now, but maybe theres an in between. Definitely going to explore it. Just wanna end up with something calligraphic in the end...
Just wanted to echo what @Jeff said, thanks for also uploading those shots of earlier in the process. I've always been curious as to how you'd go about planning these, it's interesting to see how you break up the word first and the rough doodles.

Ambigram
by Nikita Prokhorov
Another ambigram. The overall design is inspired by Italian iron-wrought gate designs.
Click on g_ambigram.gif and watch it turn! And...figure out what it says?
And...some slight changes in the newly attached g_ambigram_final.jpg. Just can't stop refining it...
