Inspired by my love of oriental pattern designs, at least how I remember them in my imagination. Very soon I shall make a trip to the wonderful Institut du Monde Arabe to pick up a pattern book for more inspiration.
@Faheema Sorry I forgot to answer your question (had to post & run, heh heh)! This is my 15 cm (6") square sketchbook. It's a great size for me as I'm learning - not too big to be intimidating but large enough to get detailed. @Tobia gee, thank you! Yes, it's by hand - much easier to control line than my last shot which was digital.
Wow, this is stunning Melissa. Those details..! How do you do this entire thing without accidentally having the pen line wobble or smudge or something? Crazy.
@Claire Thanks so much for the kind words! But I do wobble, a lot actually :D That's what I like about ink drawings, you have to work with your mistakes, kind of like life… if you look very closely, you can see where the lines get thicker (usually a correction). But I like this "hand made" quality, as least for my own purposes :) @Tobia lol, so are you ;D @Alfredo Wow, thank you so much :)))
