I agree on the buttons, that top one looks way too fat, more like a dial than a shutter button. Nothing says you can't have smaller buttons for larger sizes and larger buttons for small sizes.
Other than that, digging the clean style over the current one. It helps to separate luxogram from instagram.
Dig it. I'd make the corner radius much smaller at small sizes (if you haven't already). The sleep/wake button looks too far to the left since the radius is so big. Minor though.
Some context to what the project is always helps, especially when it looks so similar to another mark.
Definitely do not see a problem with the buttons, the color scheme is coming along nicely, though I think that yellow could be tweaked some more. You're working with a fairly warm red, blue and green, but the yellow feels a little cooler to me.

I like the logo, but it looks too similar to Instagram, which will throw people off, I do like it, but it just makes me think too much of Instagram.

Isn't that the point?

@Nick It is an instagram viewer. I wanted it to resemble Instagram and still have its own personality.

Nice, super fun and retro lookin! : ) The round end of the "g" descender feels foreign to the rest of the letters.

Love the unique color palette. Not a big fan of the type face.

I think the buttons are too big and clumsy, and the inner lenses (opacity) doesn't match with the rest of the simple scheme.
Other than that it's good.

@Matias Buttons are larger because they need to be visible at smaller sizes (favicon).

@James It's not exactly a shutter button. It's supposed to resemble the buttons on your iPhone. :)

I like the type. It's something a little fresh. Is it custom or a face?

It does remind me of instagram, or rather what instagram should be.

@Jeff The first thing after I saw the design was was look at the camera, look at my phone, then smile :)

I like the logo itself and the color palette, but I wonder about the type... specially about the and of the "g", like @Jed Bridges said.

love the colors (salmon is my fav) and the camera but I agree with some of the previous comments, maybe a script font would look more appealing
