    Struggling a bit with this side project I'm working on.

    Love the abstract shape the O and C create. I can see the wave, but I can also make out a cloud. Played around with water droplet shapes to create what you see here. The only thing is that I feel like there's something missing between the letters, but everything I tried in there added too much visual noise.

    Not sold on the font either. Since the mark is kind of whimsical, the rounded sans might push it too far into whimsy; but it seems to fits the beach-front feel well. Might need a subtle sans or some kind of slab to rescue it.

    Should I make it a distinct O in the mark, or is that conveyed well enough? Also: the pastor said he preferred lowercase: what's your feeling on that?

    I think you have something really nice here... but you are right it needs a few tweaks to take it to the next level.

    -don't mind the lower case, but you'll have issues with the 'Y' encroaching on the line below
    -font, I like the flow of it... think it fits the curves and fluid nature of the mark above
    -the more I look at the mark I am wondering about the baseline... the hard edge. I know you need a way to finish it off, but it's too hard.
    -for the 'O' I like what you are doing with the detail marks inside the shape, I would maybe us another smaller arc to define the 'O' more, instead of dropping in a 'O'

    @Zachary: Great feedback, thanks!

    I don't mind the descender on the 'y', I feel like it helps glue both lines together.

    As for the hard edge on the bottom, I did try some negative space waves on the bottom, but it felt contrived. Maybe some kind of long wave treatment—I just don't want it distracting from the top. Then again, the sharp point really stands out, so... point taken, will give it some thought.

    And I love your O idea, will definitely implement that next. Thanks again for the valuable feedback.

    This is a mighty fine piece you have going here, Jesse. I love the color scheme, and the textured feel you have implemented. Zachary's "O" idea is definitely a good one. Is this a snippet of the header, or just stylized this way for show?

    Although the image and styling are gorgeous, as a concept I'm not sure the best way to go about it is to put letters and then guess what shape they form and go with it. I'd try to make a real wave out of it - and make it unambiguous.
