   My icon for the day. I remember watching movies on these as a kid [and actually dug one out when making this icon].

   I created this in ~4 hours, dug through dropbox and made a process gif for you guys ;)

   Feedback and tips are great, this is practice so feel free to tear it apart.

    Very nice! Maybe it's just me. But the VHS looks less thicker than what it should look like. Probably because of the shadow. Also, can you link me to the wood texture? Would love to use that as my wallpaper. Thanks!

    Try working with the shadows around it. Adjusting them could maybe add some thickness to the VHS (they are pretty thick right?) - also a little blurry in the bottom.

    The colors and lighting are perfect.

    @Andy Ngo , @Emil Baehr I think you two should fight it out over the thickness issue :)

    Oh, and here's the wood texture; the original file as well as a wallpaper-suitable one that matches what I used in the shot [I completely redid the colors, scaled, sharpened, etc.]. You can go hunt down the source if you want, but it's where I have gotten almost every wood texture I've used from, so I'm sort of protective of it :)

    And would love to get some tips and feedback that seems to have a lot more experience and skill than me.
    Also the wood texture is drop dead gorgeous and i am really glad that you gave it away.
