Man. This one nailed it, as far as the vibe of the movie goes. It would've made for such a killer system. The gas station signage request seems odd to me, especially since there's such a rich body of surreal, ritualistic visuals associated with the name... Is this the place opening in the Beauty Bar's spot?

@Renee Fernandez - Thanks so much! I really liked this one as well.

And yes, its going where the Beauty Bar was, with mostly the same owners, just different concept + name. The inside of the bar (which I haven't been a part of the process of up to this point, unfortunately) fits way more into that rustic americana vibe, which is why I think they want the more classic look. Such a bummer! I was really hoping for full on Mexican Surrealism. Would have been too fun.

@Renee Fernandez - Also, I did so many fun mock-ups of repeating patterns based off this one. It would have been so lovely. Damnit!

The one they picked would have been rad for any number of things... Except a bar named after that film. I think the fact that they all 9 (?!) agreed on the name, then went that direction with the logo just hurts my brain.

@Renee Fernandez - I agree completely. Bleugh. The life of a designer, I suppose! Hopefully I'll find something neat to use this one for someday.
