Working away on a quirky website nav layout. Going for something retro with the Atari wood veneer, the scan line TV effect background... and combining it with something web 2.0 with the buttons etc. Pop-out drawer pushes the 'database' aspect at you a little more, plus I think it's fun :)
P.s. my first dribbble since I was 2 years old! sweet.
I would do 2px scanlines, this one hurts my eyes.
Also, I don't like the highlights set to color dodge, they look a bit funny being such a bright yellow. And the text could do without the metal coloration.
Brilliant job on the filing cabinet.
hmm, I tried it with 2px scalines... looked a tad odd to me. Suppose Dribbble and its image specs means a small portion of a layout makes your eyes zone in. (lack of context)
Color dodge (overlay in reality) I wanted to be harsher/brighter so it had a real contrast with the backdrop. You might be right though.
@Ian Storm Taylor: Yeah, luckily the scan lines arent the full length of the site, only a section of it. Lighter colors tend to flickr a bit more... can always argue this further reflects a crepy old retro TV! :p
@Adam Campbell: Thanks, but I tried a lot of different variants for the scanlines... 1px lines with 2px gap was just too big of a gap.
p.s. starting to build the site now :). Lot of backend stuff to do once this front-end is in place (to interact with the backend). It's being put together by a few guys in our spare time so, tentatively aiming for a X-mas debut.

This look really good. Although people might hate scrolling on your site with those scanlines.

As for the scanlines - I mentioned on Flickr, have you tried 1px lines with 2px gap?
