Not bad. It looks a little bit like you're using the smudge tool on the borders? One thing you can try to do, is think of the fur more in terms of depth. Like, paint it out in layers. Because what you have is just a 2d border, smudged out to look furry. So, you want to start more with all the base fur in the back, sort of one tone, and do your strokes being all furry and going outwards. And then on top of that base color, you can put in your highlights and other colors and things, so you have more of a depth for your texture and your edges. You start doing it towards the middle of his hood, especially above his head. You just have to push that :D
