So I am still working on the type but, I thought I post the mark to get some feedback. This is suppose to be a abstract record as a speak bubble. I hope that makes sense.
Not sure about the highlights being on opposite sides of the raised sections, feels like the bottom right highlights should be facing the top left. Other than that a really cool mark. Its amazing how your style pours out of this even though it's a simple design.
I dig it, great style and colours. To be honest I just don't see a record. The lines might be too thick and all I see is a dart board. Maybe it's just because I had 4 hours of sleep last night...
Looks cool Nick. I agree with some of the previous comments. It looks more like an oven cooktop. I tend to go bolder with lines, too...but in this case I think you need to go thinner to make it resemble a record. Colors are great as always. I'm sure you'll figure it out.

I read it like a 'Q' right away. If you just flipped it so the tail was popping out of the other side I think it would be more word bubbly.

I agree with @James Scott. The center of the record needs to stand out more, where the label would be on it.

Might be too literal, but maybe you could throw in the record arm to fill in for the bottom of the speech bubble, not sure...
