This strikes the right balance between "digital flatness" and realistic shadows & gradients. Just enough of each to be subtle without losing a great tactile experience. For instance, the dotted row separators are a welcome change from the norm!
Technical question: what happens when "Category" et. al. are localized? Is there enough room for longer translations?

About your question, yes there is a lot of room to the right still. This is panel that slides open and takes about 2/3 of the screen.
@Jan Cavan Thanks and thanks for spotting that pixel difference there! I had to look with xScope to really see it, but you are right. Sharp eye you have ;) I'll make sure to fix that.
