I have been working on a new splash page for Jump.tv. It's about time for us to start explaining what we do and to get some feedback.

This is a user voting design I have been playing around with. What do you think?

Not sure what you're trying to communicate, but I will give you my blind feedback. I think it's very playful and fun. Thinking left one is either a hover state or a down state, whichever, I think green outer glow feels weird over blue background. This is a total personal taste thing though.

What @Kerem Suer said. Maybe change the opacity on the check mark?

Nice work @Jeff Broderick. I really like what you've done with the design on the right but have to agree with @Kerem Suer that I'm not 100% sold on the green glow on the left...I feel it's competing with the green checkmark (which could use a little less transparency.)

    Solid work, as always!

    Looking good! some thoughts:

Check marks we all know signifies selected/chosen but in this instance the selected image is grayed out / darkened, the lighter photo on the right seems to take prominence. The image on the right looks 'checked/selected' to me.

Maybe use the check mark in a way that does not darken the checked image?

agreed with Kerem on green glow.

I think @Kerem Suer & @Duc Le are completely on point. I think the spread on the glow should be a bit lower? I personally think that that's what creates the weird colour vibe @Kerem Suer is mentioning. Again @Jeff Broderick, this is all very personal opinion and I'm sure you'll know best what you're trying to achieve and in which context.

I'm with @Duc Le -- dimming out my choice seems counter to what I would expect. I would expect what I *didn't* choose to be less prominent. I can't see my choice and can't stop looking at the other one.

@Duc @Josh It's multi select. Selected dims so they can continue to see the rest.

Good work. Just think about changing this green glow, it's a little too much on blue background. All other elements are fine. Cool design!

Looks very nice @Jeff Broderick - But maybe you should make the text hide on focus

Really nice looking (apart of the previously commented green glow on blue bg).

About the check mark – I'm guessing you applied a blending mode on it over the photo, right? So how would you emulate that effect after it'll be coded?

Apart of that, I like the darkened photo when checked, IMO it emphasises the check mark...

Thanks guys for your feedback. I have taken almost all of it into consideration and will be posting an updated shot soon.

  18. Thanks guys for your feedback! I have taken almost all of it into consideration.

This is how I see it working...Shows a list of fullsize avatars, user clicks an avatar, is fades out, and checkmark fades in. After a short delay checkmark fades out and tweet button fades in. Tooltip only shows for the most recently selected avatar.

Check out the attachment for the full view.
