This is looking awesome Shaun! You are doing a bang up job. Keep going as I'm sure there are a million, zillion, kabillion people itching to throw money at this :)
Dude, you realize we're going to get you on every gaming blog, every gaming magazine and any other publication on any medium that Mimeo could have anything to do with. ;)
In short, all of this will be worth it. The Dribbble community will make sure of that.
I think you mentioned something about parallax for the backgrounds, is that right? I feel like in the 2-bit version may get version it may get difficult to tell what is background and what is part of the level to interact with. Could just be the screenshot though with no movement.
On the plus side, the overworld graphics only come in one bit-depth, right? I sure hope so, for your sake. Hearing you having so much trouble makes me think I should just stick with four-color all the way through. Maybe I'll dust off my old Game Boy CPU Manual.
Shaun, this feels one part MegaMan, one part Fantasia and one part Warhol. For whatever reason, the four bit depths gives it a visual complexity that transcends simple game play into some kind of gamer pop art... It's a Mimeo Diptych!
@Philip if the 2-bit parallax turns out to be a problem I will dither or remove it all together.
@Marty nope, while you can't change resolution on the overworld, there are still four versions. The resolution is determined by which exit in the level you find. Certain paths (shortcuts and secret worlds) are only available at certain resolutions.

Feeling winded and I still have at least 7 more types of levels to create assets for.
I haven't even started the overworld graphics yet *weeps*
