23/50 Daily Logo Challenge | Boat Logo - Star Point Marine

Day 23 of the Daily Logo Challenge.

Prompt: Boat logo

The final concept for todays design didn't turn out as I hoped. The simple Icon is supposed to be a combination of a star, a compass rose/or ships helm and the waves of the ocean. Unfortunately I think this concept has too many elements going on making it difficult for the viewer to take in any of the associations and therefore impacting its memorability. The colour choices and the rounded shapes also give a very soft and playful feel to the logo something akin to a children's brand, which obviously it is not.

In hindsight as I am uploading this pixel and looking at the image I think the wave form in the background may have made a good mark on it's own with a bit of tweeking, All in all though I'm not happy with todays outcome but will take what I have learnt into future projects and days of this challenge.
