Logo/Identity/Character design for client Genki Pilates and Fitness.
Client requested female character heavily inspired by Japanese anime. Not your regular fitness logo, however gives the client a very unique image in a completive market.
Luckily my wife (who is half-Japanese), was able to really help out and give an authentic feel to the design
Duane, I really like the character here. But, out of curiosity, why are they drawn to a mark like this for their brand, which is admittedly far from fitness?
@Erik I'll have to respectfully disagree with you .. I see shiny hair, gorgeous skin, rosy cheeks and a happy disposition .. some of the hallmarks of true fitness. If you look after your body, it will show in every aspect you. A lot of people associate fitness with being lean or muscled, but it is actually much deeper than that :-)
Hey Erik, the client was a huge fan of Japanese anime and came to me after she had attempted a design herself, but couldn't get it right.
Up front she was adamant she wanted to go this route and was very specific with her requirements. This quote from an email the client sent me best sums it up "I don't want my logo to look like the usual Pilates/gym logos - they are boring and if I see another silhouetted body I might scream"
I absolutely love it. I'm with Sneh too - when I think of health and fitness I think of glowing skin, healthy hair and happiness... not a perfectly sculpted body. I think it's a really cool idea. :)
Sneh & Marnie,
I stand respectfully corrected. :)
I was more curious than anything about the direction chosen. I think this is why I wouldn't consider myself a logo designer because I would have never even considered this as a direction.

No, Erik. An opinion can't be incorrect. You were just expressing yours. :)
