Repository icons 96x96, top has a remote, bottom is locally stored only.

Where are ze continents?
Haha no continents on these. There are other plans for what goes inside of the globes...
I look at those icons and nothing comes to mind for what they really mean if there were to stand on their own. What the hell does an orb and a raised platform mean to version control, or the word "repository" in general?
I'd challenge you to come up with something unique and more meaningful than the rest of the version control apps out there.
They look nice though if that helps :).
@Mark - The orb is usually a globe (and decorated as such), and I believe the platform stands for some sort of base or server in which your content (globe) is supported by. It does make sense.
That said, I definitely support your challenge for a clearer metaphor. Maybe someone will rebound with a promising icon!
I kind of went with what you guys were talking about. But I guess i forgot to make it a rebound:
A challenge huh? I'll see what I can do :-)
I agree with Mark. The icon looks nice indeed, but I think it's not a clear enough concept. Just my take though.
clouds are trendy. Maybe a cloud in the remote and land in the local orbs? or some other metaphor for local storage...
