^ I think you're definitely achieving that, it looks really good. It has a perfect amount of personality while still being quite restrained. I particularly love how the 'P' and 'E' mirror each other. I think the 'A' could be a little wider (that way, the left stroke would be closer to the 'E' too so you'd have a bit less of a gap there too), but I love its shape and the upper serif in particular.

just inked in my initial sketch for a new type treatment. Going to vectorize and smooth things out, but really like this look so far.
