Call me crazy, but I really like white...that way there isn't a substantial amount of color fighting with the action button in the upper right ( which you can't see in this shot...)
I like the white. But I agree with some of the comments that a bit of texture or slight color differentiation between the selected item and the rest of the menu might be nice.
White looks great, Tyler, but I can't help but think that's because of the greyscale images and icons. I wonder: if a color photo or a mainly white photo was in the hero spot, would that change how effective the white highlight is?
