I like this. Would "unfold to refresh" always be there? Twittelator Neue has the same concept, but they put the "unfold to refresh" on the top part of the fold. Maybe try that?
As much as I like the folding interaction, the metaphor seems to be broken. You would expect the unfolding to reveal the new item there and then, rather than trigger the loading of multiple items (assuming that's what it would be doing).
I like the idea but i agree with @Ed Boaden, i feel the same. It doesn't make sense. It's similar to Apple's address book app. Its a book with pages but you scroll down for more content, not turn the page. It just doesn't fit. Nice visuals though :)

The idea is good, but, yeah, @Ed Boaden is right. Perhaps we could use it for something like notification bar, extra content or something.
