I actually don't think the stars look military at all, maybe actual shape of the star and the way you have framed it??

You know, the stars give it a bit of a political feel to me. Or, maybe 'cause it's that time of year. Looks great btw.

The colors combined with the row of stars, really gave me the political feel too, just like @Emma mentioned.
But apart from that I think it looks solid as hell.

The odd thing is, I didn't even know Chicago had a flag, and I've been there a dozen times and my dad spent his high school years there... aside from that minor embarrassment, this looks great!
