A couple of people emailed me about the textures used in my first shot, so I'm attaching them here. They were made by mixing some paper textures from my library, then sharpened with High pass filter, then colored etc. Its all about tweaking it until you are happy with the look.

@Alex - I'm using your "Texture_2" pattern in one of my app concepts. You can check it out here. I love the subtle imperfections - they work so well on both small screens and large screens, and look even better on retina displays. Thank you for sharing your work!
