Last week we were brainstorming with a partnering studio in how best to explain a few concepts for a new client's project. This is part of it.

Thanks Frank. We're aware of the Dreyfus model but for this we needed to really simplify this particular concept in regards to the specific industry this project resides in.

Excellent. It really reminds me of Solid/Liquid/Gas states of matter.

Random question. Shouldn't Experts be at the top and Supernormals be at the bottom? My guess is the Experts group would consist of a much smaller proportion than the Supernormals.

I like this, I have just been listening to the DesignObserver and the podcasts "Design Matters with Debbie Millman" where she interviews Michael Bierut and they discuss the design of the food pyramid. This made my think of this design instantly (but in a good way)

Frank: no worries. It's an odd space that this project resides in...

Ryan: see above but there's a reasoning behind the inverted-ness as the industry is targeted specifically to the experts and we're using the triangle differently than the way the food pyramid is used to explain a particular concept.

    Awesome. That's what I figured. :)

Actually, the way it should be explained in context is that we're taking a particular slice of an industry and explaining it that way — the pyramid is not of the population at large.
