I just got my first iPad and of course started drawing on it. This is my second iPad drawing, done with the Procreate app and a cheap, uncomfortable stylus. I look forward to seeing where I go from here.
@Joey Ellis I read a bunch of reviews of painting apps, talked to some friends and Procreate looked tops to me. So far, it seems like a simple yet powerful app. Time will tell.
@Jacqui Oakley I'll definitely be experimenting with various painterly styles, and posting shots here!
@Joey Ellis I know there are some more complex export options, but I haven't yet figured it out. I think you can at least get a transparent background, if not all the layers. I'll try it and let you know.
@Joey Ellis Procreate can export PSD, layers and all. It looked great when I opened in Photoshop. It can also export PNG with a transparent background which may come in handy.
This is great Steve, love the characters style. Have you tried the Paper app for iPad yet? I have an uncomfortable stylist too but really its tough to draw when you can't rest your hand down on the drawing service.
@Andrew Griswold I have used the Paper app. It's pretty slick and I've already used it for sketching out some rough concepts. I find I can rest my hand enough on the bezel of the iPad to get enough control, though it's not as easy as an actual desk surface. :)
Good ole pen and paper never fails. haha Though I have really liked the new Paper app and the whole idea of a sketchbook on the iPad. I used the Moleskin sketch app for the longest time and then this came out. I think I like the idea of being able to fill as much as you want and its all organized in books and pages already. Though I don't think I will be parting with my scrappy looking Moleskins anytime soon its nice to have an alternative.
I do like the idea of having a digital sketchbook with me and am just getting used to the concept. I sort of stopped carrying a regular sketchbook a while back. I'd like to get back into the practice but I need a better stylus.

Thanks, Lisa!
I've tried some good styli from others. It can actually make a difference. I'll need to upgrade if I want to keep drawing on the iPad.

Wow, I really like this sketchy style Steve. The lines and the hair are so good. Would love to see you experiment more with this style.

@The Tree House Press I guess he does have a bit of 1940s-ish-ness about him. :)
