This is a debut of my first try at lettering a phrase and I've learned quite a bit while sketching it . I picked this phrase from the song "Save The World". It was perfect since I wanted to start with something simple. Oddly enough, when I was sketching this, I worked inside out starting with the letter "g" - not quite sure why I did that. Also, I'll be vectoring this soon to clean up a few issues so I'll post the final when it's complete,
Finally, I get to have a look at this shot properly. This has progressed so well, it's good to see it with a darker pencil fill too – you get a better feel for the stroke contrast (which I know I've already commented on but whatever, I like it that much). Like Rachael said, the 'g' was definitely a good starting point. I love how you've left t the bowl open at the top, the thin stroke seems to point to the main stem, I love that. All the best with the vectoring!
@Claire With leaving the bowl open on the "g" was also my plan for the "o" but I eventually decided to keep it closed. I'm glad you noticed that detail. I can't remember which version I sent you but I prefer the lighter shade of this. I kind of rushed through filling this in with more pressure and screwed up a bit. Anyway, thanks (I owe you) for the continuous feedback and support.
Good call with the 'o', I think it works nicely closed because of the connection to the 'n'. The version I'd seen appeared to have a lighter fill, but it might have just been the scan quality. Either way, I really like the shade of this one. Curious to see how the next step goes! Keep me posted.
Thanks, @Gert. Hopefully not too ancient, haha. The script was inspired by the 1960's. I'm tweaking the vector now so I should have the final posted here soon.

Oh and that's such a non-subtle thank you.
