Hawaiki Art Catalogue

Kowhai - A painting from Nigel Borell's 'Hawaiki' exhibition. I designed the catalogue for the show.

Here is an excerpt from the catalogue:
The notional premise of this exhibition Hawaiki is related to origins and migration perhaps also has its genesis in Maori traditional meeting house design. As a practitioner of tuktuku, the woven panels that sit between the ancestral carvings - as well as kowhaiwhai, Borell would know that the tukutuku panels that adorn the walls of our meeting houses descend from the star charts carried by ancient navigators and used in long-distance ocean travel.
