im not sure i like the concept of the dark bar sliding down when an item is selected. It might be too far for the user to travel. What about having the tools for the message (dark bar) more visually connected to the selected message.
@Nick Matarese I wanted to incorporate a multi-selectable feature. If the dark bar was connected to the message, you would lose this feature, so it just made sense to do it this way.
Note: The dark bar would be fixed at the top when visible, it wouldn't become hidden upon scrolling, just to avoid any confusion.
@Daryl Ginn good call. Mutli-select would be desirable. I like that you are taking dribble beyond pretty UI's and talking about usability. I feel like its often forgotten on dribbble. #props

Saw Adam do a concept earlier, thought i'd give it a shot too. It was a challenge with such a confined space, but I tried my best.
The dark bar slides down when an email(s) is selected. Note: Archive is hovered.
You guys should give it a go too, maybe a little rebound fun?

Cool. I like the black texture.

Looks tight but the black texture is to much.
Edit: Black texture is to much for that tiny area, it may be fine in a full-sized app.
