There's something my designs have always seemed to lack—life and texture. Always on with the rectangles with some highlights and such. Always on with the text in a line set in Helvetica and nothing at an angle. I have to keep on my toes in this place, it's epically intimidating to be here now. :P
Behold! It's a stamp on a rebound of the ranking form.
I kept thinking of how members will be "submitting their rankings." So why not actually give them a form! This is nothing new in the grand scheme of things—I've been inspired by many a designer here on Dribbble when it came to this style—but it's a damn accomplishment for me to see it on something I made.
Things will change in practice, like that handwriting font, I'll need one that's a bit more legible.
The stamp looks pretty nice, I like that style. And the handwritten typography looks good as well, but I'm sure that there are better fonts around there for that IMO.
The text written in the handwriting font - is it supposed to change often? Because if it's going to be the same everytime you visit this, I'd say just get someone to actually write it out for you.
Brian: My cockamamy idea was that the handwritten text would be @font-face'd. At the least, the date you see in the image and a "signature" field containing the ranker's username would be @font-face'd. I'm still really torn as to whether to apply it to that text field, but I left it there so I don't forget to make a decision on it.
I know *exactly* what you mean about being afraid to step out of the comfortable safe world of rectangles and highlights. Many opportunities for FAIL out there.

That's nice. I like what you're going for with the stamp, definitely makes it feel "official."

Nice, bringing in some more "real world" bits adds layers of awesomeness to any design.
In moderation.

Chris & Chris: Thanks. :) I agree with the moderation part completely. I don't think I could go any farther than this.
Ignacio: Indeed, since this'll be @font-face'd I want something that'll straddle the line between "stylish" handwritten without being too gaudy.

I would have guessed this was Panic's making. I hear you with the rectangles. Nice work!

Looks nice. I'd say the paper lacks some texture and edges compared to the stamp.

My recommendation would be to use Reenie Beanie. Pretty stylish but simple handwritten font.

Looks good! As for the font, you might consider trying to make one out of this guy's handwriting.

Thanks guys. :D
Chris: Thanks, I'll check that out. :)
Marty: Yeahhh... don't know how my writing would turn out as a font, not even including the fact that I wouldn't know where to start with that.

(Believe me, this is a departure for me as well.)

This is simply lovely, though.
