I love creating ways for people to dive deeper into a content-rich site. In the case of my dad's new site (more details), all of his posts are long-form articles, and he's got almost two years worth, at this point.
These subtle left/right buttons navigate to the previous or next article. They're fixed-position and transparent until you roll over them.
They definitely suck me in and get me clicking between articles—hopefully it works for other people to.
I played with a bunch of different opacity levels. I ended up on this one so it's not easily missed. On a glossy screen, in less-than-optimal conditions, it's still pretty subtle.

Pretty cool. I wonder if you could make it a tad more transperant before the rollover though... but other than that it's good.
