There's just no perfect way to arrange all of the various social widgets that seem to be expected on today's blogs (ugh, don't get me started). That said, I'm pretty happy with how it came out for my dad's new site (more details).
I love creating ways for people to dive deeper into a content-rich site. In the case of my dad's new site (more details), all of his posts are long-form articles, and he's got almost two years worth, at this point.
These subtle left/right buttons navigate to the previous or next article. They're fixed-position and transparent until you roll over them.
They definitely suck me in and get me clicking between articles—hopefully it works for other people to.
