By popular demand, here's a downloadable, updated vinylTunes icon (now featuring 100% more grooves). I've included one version with the shadow and one without.
It's free for personal use, but read the license.txt file anyway. Let me know if anything's not working or looking right. I don't own CandyBar or any other icon replacement apps so I haven't been able to test the .icns file (or the .ico file).
I've updated the zip files linked above with new .icns and .ico files. The only difference from before is that the 16px version has been slightly simplified to be a bit more clear. If that's no concern to you then there's no reason to update.
Any guesses why iTunes won't let me change its icon? Not by copy/paste or dragging the PNG or anything else apparently... EDIT: I had to change permissions on iTunes.app.

Mac download (.icns + 256px .png)
PC download (.ico + 256px .png)

excellently simple. Would be cool if it turned into a 7" at smaller sizes so the note was bigger.

Thanks everyone for the kind comments, I'm glad you like it.
So far Mac downloads are outpacing PC downloads by a ratio of 7 to 1, ha.

Really nice. =)
I tried to use CandyBar to install the .icns but it didn't work. Afraid I can't provide much better feedback than that.

@Jason jus go to your Applications folder, then right click on itunes and select "show package contents" and replace it on Resources ;)

It looks great on screenshot, but hard to see in Dock on default dark background of Snow Leopard. Had to revert back to default icon :(

Really love the chunky, somehow cute and childish note icon in the middle!

The copy/paste in info panel doesn't seem to work with iTunes 10.1.1.
