It's kind of freakin' me out that they're standing up on their own. I really like the style though. Makes me think of Dragon eggs.

They look more like pebbles that eggs. Something's off with shading.
(edit) It's the very strong highlight along the top edge. It implies very strong curvature near the edge that flattens out towards the center.

I like the flat shading a lot! Sure, you could make it look round, but you certainly don't need to. I agree about using different dot patterns for each of them.

But I would also like the dots changed. If you look at a small version of this (like the thumbnail) or squint, one of the dots really stick out.
