So I've been looking at a way to better show my skills without resorting to a huge lump of text which I'm convinced puts clients off. I'm working on something like this. May well change the copy, not sure yet.

I'd go a touch lighter on the text shadow. It looks a bit harsh against the softness of the shadow on the bar.
I'd say match the bar shadow or go even more transparent to show that the text is held within the bar, rather than hovering on top.
