I had a lot of fun with the beard. Anything that lets me do a lot of feathering is okay in my book. I love making the rapid, sweeping motions of the brush that create that thick to thin, calligraphic line. This is about a two inch area, width-wise.
End-ish. There are a few niggling details that got hit with opaque white or corrected digitally. But this is pretty much done. The space not seen at the top is for the band and album lettering.
Coloring will emphasize the foreground figures. The background figures are messy and get in the way. If I had my choice, they'd be gone or much less prominent. It is still successful in spite of that, I think.
I'm using the Brother MFC6490CW. It's an 11"x17" scanner, printer, and fax. I typically print on my Epson, but the reason I got this Brother is it's large format. It being wirelessly networkable and cheap didn't hurt.
The scan quality is good if not great. It certainly suffices considering all other options (save a pretty shitty Mustek which I used to own too) are $1200-ish.
The wireless networking is nice because now the scanner lives by my drafting table and is convenient to swap art onto and off of.
Print quality is pretty abysmal, but I have a decent printer and don't much care if the Brother fails miserably in that regard.

So good. Glad your shots got replenished.
I'm sure you get this a lot, but what brushes do you use? Also, I've been looking for a good flatbed network scanner. Hows your experience with yours?
