looks good..try make a 1 point outline..or just leave the outline all together..and a tiny bit of drop shadow..make the shape stand up sightly..thinking aloud..
nice, this one is much better. This one shows the shape of the M a lot better. You might even think about adding some light highlights to the vertices.
I like this one but it does remind me a lot of the Melbourne logo, which is a pretty high profile identity. You're definitely doing something different and creative with a 3D blocky look, but it is still quite reminiscent. (The colors are also quite similar.)
I like your piece and the play between opaque and transparent areas.
@CampSteve, I agree, this one is feeling a little too close to the Melbourne logo for comfort. Although there are at least two dozen variations of that logo that they seem to be using, so the colors are only similar to one of the variations.
In any case, I think distancing it from that and the fact that I do want it to convey a "warehouse" of some kind instead of something like an office building this is going to push me toward the shape of the original.
It's a pretty intuitive idea for designers I am beginning to think , so nice work Seth.
Not to rehash but If anyone is interested, here is an article about the city of Melbourne logo and it's inspiration from the MerchantLogix logo, which I had designed 7 years ago [ published in a few design annuals, including LogoLounge ].
Raja, thank you for weighing in here. I just read through the interview you linked to, and I like your take on it. You're a classy dude.
As I said above, I wasn't even aware of your Merchant Logix logo when I made this, so any similarities are completely coincidental. I've also seen a few other logos that use an "M" in 3D space or mapped to a cube, all with varying styles. McKinney's logo is based on the same general concept. So I agree that it's probably an idea that many designers tend to gravitate toward, for whatever reason.
But you have to love the design community for looking out, in many cases -- and I can speak for myself here -- it's been them who have saved some would-be fiascos

Thanks all. @anthonylane, thanks, I wasn't aware of that one, but I am aware of the City of Melbourne identity and tried to differentiate it from that.

Loves it. Reckon if you went the whole hog on the border like you did on the M it would be a whole different level.

This mark reminds me an awful lot like the identity revamp for the city of Melbourne, circa 2-3 years back. Just fyi. Still enjoyable all the same.

I think you've differentiated it just enough from the City of Melbourne logo. I mean, it's not like we really even use that logo anyway.

Agree with Anthony Lane, this is identical to Merchant Logix by Raja Sandhu.
