Looks good, but isn't it really unpractical? The most visible thing by far are the icons, not the actual content like Photos or texts. I can't imagine using something like that, looking for my photos, it would be a chore. In this case, less is definetely more.

@Petr Široký, why it's unpractical? It's just main screen showing content of possible photo albums with nice look & feel.

What he probably means is that the actual thumbnail representing your album is 1/4 of the album icon.
With this app, you know you're looking at albums, so it isn't really necessary to put all that eye-candy on top.

It does look very nice though imo :)

  18. Pro Petr Široký Petr Široký

@Cuberto @Florian Vanthuyne Exactly what Florian means. It's pretty, but it's actually something that will bother people. If you have bigger photoalbum with many directories, it'll be chore to visually scan through this - the nice look will overpower everything like cheese in picnic basket. And this isn't something that can be fixed, it's the most visible thing, and sadly, the only generic content. Bad idea and design decision.

To me its much practical and elegant looking especially album icon is a new idea .

Also In the real life we use beautiful album book and a title photo, more on hover you can show some of its photos.

  20. Pro Cuberto Cuberto

@Petr Široký, Thanks for your opinion, but it's individual and a very questionable opinion. The resolution of the New iPad allows to create stunning objects and textures and we can not see anything wrong with that.

These books looks very nice, but maybe the right part of them could be smaller so it makes less empty space on the cover?

  23. Pro Alexander Spliid Alexander Spliid

I have to agree with @Petr Široký and @Florian Vanthuyne this feels a bit overdesigned, and i think that while the albums is proof of great craftsmanship and are totally eyecandy they take too much attention from the task at hand. Instead of supporting the UX they are overpowering it. But you can't argue with how beautiful this is though :)

Well, it may be a little harder to scan but it definitely stands out from the crowd of polaroid and stack metaphors.
