Thanks David and Simon, i agree that's a lot neater!
The overhanging edges is a feature of other areas of the design, which is why i included it on this widget too. It was more for consistency than anything but i may opt for this simpler approach.
I'm not a fan of the transparency on the banner, but the rest of it is fantastic. Curious why you chose to make the number of the selected date green though...
@Patrick Green is used as an accent colour elsewhere in the app but i'm not sure it works either in this context. I wanted to choose a contrasting colour for the current date that would stand out. It's not as visible as i would have liked, perhaps because of a tonal clash with the date background.

Date selection for a forthcoming Webapp. Undecided whether i like the transparency on the banner.

Gorgeous calendar, that looks very bold and simple. I reckon the clipped edges work nicer.

If you do decide to keep the overhanging bits, I would definitely make them opaque. I kinda like the overhang too...

Thanks guys, still undecided :D
Ultimately it will be the clients decision but maybe reducing the overhang would be a compromise.

Really nice! However, why are you writing in french for body text and Juillet but english names for days (mon etc.)?
Other than the hangovers, which you've already addressed, looks superb.

Thanks Gareth, the app will be in French but the design is a mixture of French and English until fully translated.

I think the "overhanging" edges are nice. Simon's suggestion is a bit weird. I don't like the transparency though.

I agree that the transparency should be remove, but I have to say that this is damn nice.
