WIP / Logo for Vidabox - cutting edge AV streaming technology product - in house integration of HW (media servers, iPad) and SW (control center) for playing, streaming and control from any iPhone, iPod, iPad, or Android device.
Logo is integrating V letter shape for the name of the company with play button representing product that allows you play any movie, song, or video, in any room, at any time.
Love the 3D feel buddy, it looks like you've made a virtual fusion between 3 different devices in space. I am pretty sure that your client will go with this one!
I've never seen anything quite like this before, It immediately grabbed my attention from your Facebook post and looks really neat! (Especially for such a wide spread form as a play button).
I reckon you should have this as a separate logo-type and symbol solution. Both components work well within the same brand universe but as a lock-up it feels a little awkward.
Thanks @Richard as this is premature stadium of first sketch I will think about you suggestion and try to elaborate logo / type in such way if client will go with this concept. I believe it will work because logo will be used in multiple applications from stationery through HW product labeling (servers, remote controllers) to social networks icons, user interfaces, etc.
@Jan Zabransky You must have saw my comment about the centering of the symbol before I deleted a portion of my comment. I noticed that the symbol is in fact centered over the A, my apologies. I didn't notice the darker area of the symbol on the bottom to the right. So the symbol is centered over the A, my bad. Sorry about that, I think it's fine!
Would be interesting to see a version that Julian mentioned but the sharp, crispness of the triangle as it is now really pops and sets itself apart from the softer shapes, and it fits the crisp/sharp font you are using. Just a thought.

Thanks @Alen - surprisingly this 3D (mobius stripe) effect works in one color too.

EDIT: (It will look really sweet in HD)

Lovely concept!
I would still like to see a version where the corners of the play icon are rounded.

A great example where the logomark is a great match for the typeface. Lovely all around!
