You're such a show off with those smokes and such ;)
Gratz on the result buddy! Test for this kind of logos is easy - if you wanna grab some coffee after looking at it your job is done... Having one as we speak! ;)
@Sean Heisler glad you like it, thanks. I found white square is must be when using logo on dark backgrounds to achieve coconut look on mark ... its framing the concept ... I like it too. I have made line art versions in positive and negative alternate too, but it doesn't works well --- it looks ambiguous and not keeping uniform identity through applications as good as with white square.
@Jan Zabransky Yeah, I figured that is why you went with the square, I saw the problem you had with the other version and using it in reverse and the discussion about it. This is a good solution. Question though, when this is used on a light/white background will there be any square at all or will that go away? Or will the square be a ruled box?
@Sean Heisler Sean good question ... these are details I am thinking about now with client when completing identity ... to go with outline or not - you will see then :) thanks for your remarks.
Really, really love how this is turning out, Jan.
And I'm going to be a copy cat of Alen and Sean and say keep that white box. I have seen many a design taken with this approach and it looks beautiful. The box and the way the type all lock up together is so nice. And the tag does fit in nicely as Alen said.
There I copied what they said. :D
Really hope to see some finished imagery when done. Nice work.
If you care for a bit of critique - the type looks somewhat crowded, mostly due to the accent in café, also coco looks like it's set in a smaller type that café (though I'm sure they are the same).
@Alex Pankratov@Dario Calonaci thank you for your remarks and suggestions --- I will check it out for sure. And yes whole name is in small caps "coco cafe".

Logo was approved by client, I am now tuning details and working on some applications. Vapor is not part of logo, just bonus for Dribbble shot :-)

I think there should be one, because of the lockup with the tag line. Without it, the tag line will just float around.
